I thought I could write a few words about the amazing awards I went to last night which will soon be on sky 1 HD so you can see for yourselves!
The awards were for children who have demonstrated extrodinary bravery or for adults who have done the same for young people. There were some really touching stories and lots of tears in the celeb audience too.
I met Harry a ten year old with an inoperatable brain tumour he knows this but decided to go out and raise money for others like him. He makes beaded braceletes and sells them to schools with a speech he gives about his situation he has raised an awful lot of money (won’t give too much away but it is loads!) But got many donations from us on the night for bracelets he left on all our tables, me and Ricky “Groovy” Groves coughed up and soon many others did as well including a charming Mr Anthony Costa from Blue and Emily Atack from DOI – who had whipped around the audience and handed him a bunch of bank notes! Good on them all I say.
Talking of DOI they were all there. I got a bit of a telling off from judge Karen Barber for ” going to the other side ” and not doing her show… ( sorry !)
Also on the same note many of the doi people were there together Gary Lucy, Maria his partner, Kieron Richardson and his partner and Hayley T and hers, as well as the lovely Daniella Westbrook. I was with Strictly’s Brendon Cole , Ola Chops Jordan and Louisa Lytton from previous SCD series. It was a bit of a comic stand off and looked like the imminant fight scene in anchorman with lots of rasberries and silly faces towards each other followed by lots of laughs. Good sports all of them !
The awards will be televised next week and also covered in this weeks News of the World. Definatly worth checking out and all winners were very deserving indeed
